Description

the first Czech publication accompanying the homonymous exhibition held in the Trade Fair Palace, devoted to the groundbreaking oeuvre of the Austrian artist Maria Lassnig (1919–2014), reflects her artwork and discusses her films and relation to U.S. experimental film. The book also includes an analysis of the conceptual aspects of Lassnig’s meta-paintings and her sculptural work. The volume features a curatorial study by Adam Budak on the immersive nature of Lassnig’s artwork, texts by art theoreticians and critics Kasia Redzisz, Lauren Barnes, James Boaden and Anna Fricke, and an essay entitled “Hard Labor: The Forte of Women:” by Ludmila Vachtová, a Swiss art historian of Czech origin.
