The book Pešánek: Torsos originated as the accompanying text to the detailed research and restoration of two sculptures by Zdeněk Pešánek - Male and Female Torso and Reclining Torso. The entire project arose because of the condition of these sculptures, combined with plan to exhibit them. Both artworks evoke an impression of timelessness, and many of visitors who saw them on display in the past probably didn't believe the date of origin as specified on the exhibition date. Pešánek created both torsos in 1936.
